Overview
Monceda USB Guard is a macOS security utility designed to help inspect USB storage devices before you work with their files.
The application provides USB device detection, file inspection, malware scanning, scan history, and HTML security reports from one interface.
USB Guard is an additional security layer and should not be considered a replacement for good security practices, backups, or a complete endpoint security solution.
System Requirements
- Apple macOS computer
- Access to removable USB storage devices
- ClamAV for full malware scanning
- Sufficient permission to read files on the USB device
Installation
- Download the Monceda USB Guard macOS package.
- Open the downloaded DMG file.
- Move Monceda USB Guard to your Applications folder when prompted.
- Open Monceda USB Guard from Applications.
Depending on your macOS security settings, macOS may ask you to confirm that you want to open the application.
Getting Started
Connect the USB storage device that you want to inspect, then open Monceda USB Guard.
The application dashboard provides access to the main scanning and reporting tools.

Quick Scan
Quick Scan performs a fast inspection of files on the selected USB device.
During the scan, USB Guard inventories the files and checks for potentially suspicious file types that may require additional inspection.
- Connect your USB device.
- Open USB Guard.
- Select the USB device you want to inspect.
- Start Quick Scan.
- Review the scan result when the process completes.
Quick Scan is intended for fast file inspection. Use the full malware scan when you need ClamAV-based malware detection.
Full Malware Scan
The full malware scan performs a deeper recursive inspection of files using the ClamAV scanning engine.
Scan time depends on the size of the USB device, number of files, and computer performance.
After scanning, USB Guard can report information including:
- Files scanned
- Potentially suspicious files
- Known malware detections
- Risk score
- Overall SAFE, WARNING, or DANGER assessment
Scan History
USB Guard maintains scan history so previous scan activity can be reviewed from the application.
Scan history can help you review previous USB inspections and earlier security results.
Security Reports
USB Guard can generate HTML reports containing information collected during a scan.
A report may contain:
- Scan date and time
- Device information
- Total files scanned
- Suspicious file count
- Known malware detections
- Risk score
- Overall security assessment
Reports can be opened in a web browser for easier review.
ClamAV Malware Scanner
Monceda USB Guard uses ClamAV for its full malware scanning capability.
If ClamAV is unavailable, the full malware scanning feature may not be available until the scanning engine is correctly installed and accessible.
Keep your ClamAV malware definitions updated to improve detection of known threats.
Troubleshooting
USB device is not detected
Disconnect and reconnect the USB device and confirm that macOS can see the drive before scanning again.
Full malware scan is unavailable
Verify that ClamAV is installed and accessible to Monceda USB Guard.
Some files cannot be scanned
File permissions, inaccessible folders, or damaged files can prevent individual files from being read.
The scan takes a long time
Large USB drives or drives containing many files require more time for a full recursive malware scan.
